CCDSL-NSTP Unit of DLSMHSI Talks about BFA, BLS, and DRRM: An Outreach Program

The Center for Community Development and Service-Learning (CCDSL) – National Service Training Program (NSTP) of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute (DLSMHSI) successfully conducted a seminar on Basic First Aid, Basic Life Support, and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management with Skills Enhancement on November 25, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Carsadang Bago Elementary School in Carsadang Bago 1, City of Imus, Cavite. The seminar carried the theme "KUMILOS para sa Kahandaan, Kaligtasan at Katatagan" and was attended by 120 students from Grades 3 to 5.
The seminar featured an engaging session on Disaster Risk Reduction and Management, including earthquake, fire, flood, and typhoon preparedness, led by Assoc. Prof. Rolly J. Capistrano. Ms. Mariel C. Ramos discussed Basic First Aid, covering topics such as Go Bag preparation, triage, the 3P’s and 3C’s, wound care, burns, and sprains or fractures. Basic Life Support, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for infants, children, and adults, was demonstrated by Dr. Lorenzo Alvin T. Capio.
In the second part of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Roel B. Hayag, NSTP Chair, demonstrated various bandaging techniques, while Dr. Julius U. Tepora led a hands-on CPR demonstration. Students then practiced and demonstrated their skills in both bandaging and CPR under expert guidance.
This activity was initiated by the Carsadang Bago Elementary School Alumni Association, led by President Roel B. Hayag, Vice President for Internal Virginia R. Anuat, Vice President for External Marissa G. Rosas, Vice President for Finance Mary Grace G. Solomon, and Vice President for Publicity Reinalyn B. Bajar, in cooperation with Ms. Marilyn Tulay, Principal of Carsadang Bago Elementary School, and the NSTP unit of CCDSL.
